To develop uniform techniques in participant information collection, mucosal sampling and laboratory methods to alllow comparison of data from various sites.

STI and HIV co-infection
Cutting edge approaches to study the relationship at the level of the genital mucosa between HIV, STIs and transmission.
Networking and mentorship

Transfer of scarce skills and knowledge for mucosal research. Establish collaborative links between recognised mucosal scientists and early career investigators.
